History of Yard House

Yard House started in the early 1990’s Platt, along with partners Harald Herrmann and Carlito Jocson, wanted to create a restaurant that would offer one of the largest selections of draft beers, a diverse menu of American fare, and play a heady selection of classic rock music on a state-of-the-art sound system. On December 7, 1996, the flagship Yard House opened along the Long Beach waterfront in Southern California. Yard House features 30 locations throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Nevada, Texas — and will make its New York and Virginia debut later this year.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Front Desk: The front desk directs the customers to the proper area in the restaurant wherte they can dine; attend to inquiries and other needs of the guests and must ensure that the customers are satisfied with the services of the restaurant. He/She exepcts an hourly rate ranging $9 to $10.

Server: This position responds to the needs of the guest for they serve the needs or orders of the guests; provides guests with a clean, comfortable environment for their dining experience; makes sure that every guest is thanked and invited to return.   The expected monthly salary averages $2,268.

Bartender: This position has the responsibilities of requesting or taking orders from and serve beverages to guests; checking on guest satisfaction and handling the payment and complaints/concerns of customers. He/She must have the knowledge of service techniques beverage product and practices of responsible alcohol service.   He/She expects to recieve an hourly rate of $5.

Line Cook: The line cook takes charge one station on a restaurant line and can be expected to perform a range of duties related to the station. He/She has the responsibility to set up the work station, prep items for service, clean the station and may also perform general duties like cleaning kitchen equipment, organize produce delivery, train a new cook and perform complete inventory. The hourly rate is in the average of $10.
