History of Seven-Eleven (7-11)

Seven-Eleven began as U.S. originating company but today is owned by Seven-Eleven Japan Co., Ltd which in turn is owned by Seven & I Holdings Co. of Japan. Today Seven-Eleven is the largest retail chain store with more than 36,842 outlets operating around the world. Today they have about 1,000 more stores than McDonald’s Corporation. The chain store became famous when they introduced the Slurpee which is a partially frozen beverage and the Big Gulp a soft drink that is packaged in large cups of 64 fluid ounces. The United States subsidiary of the Japanese firm headquarters is located at One Arts Plaza in downtown Dallas, Texas.

Job description/ Average wage

Sales Associate: The sales associate is responsible for the cash drawer, customer care, and merchandising. Often they are required to keep the shelves stocked and make sure that the service area in good condition making sure that it is clean and well supplied with food items. The machines that produce the Slurpee and Big Gulp are their responsibility.   The sales associate must make sure that they keep their cash drawer in balance. They are required to ring up sales and take cash, credit cards or debit cards for the customer’s purchases. The average wage starts at $8.00 an hour and goes upward to about $10.00 an hour depending on your work experience.

Shift Manager: The shift manager is responsible for customer service and the sales associate that is on duty. They must make sure that all the work is being done in an efficient manner. They are also responsible for merchandise pricing and brought out on the floor during their shift. They must make sure that the people who work their shift time are properly recorded. They also help out for employee disputes between customers and the employee. They make sure that the customer gets refunds when necessary and approves any checks or charge cards that are offered for payment of merchandise. The shift manager average wage starts at $9.79 an hour and according to your work experience may go even higher when you are first hired.

Store Operator: The store operator is considered the same as the store manager and they are held accountable for all functions in the operations of the store. You must have some experience and proper education for this position. Normally the corporation will also provide their new store operations with training before they take over operations of a store. The average starting wage is $40,000.
