History of Shell Oil

The Shell Oil Company is a subsidiary of the company, Royal Dutch Shell, a Worldwide company.   They are amongst the largest oil based companies in the world today.   There are over 20,000 employees that work for corporate, and this doesn’t even include the gas stations themselves.   You can find more than 25,000 shell gas stations in the United States alone.

Job Descriptions / Average Wage

Team Member: You will be responsible for watching over the entire gas station.   You will generally work with 1, or sometimes 2 other people.   You will keep the gas station clean, you will refill coffee, prep food, as well as ring up customers as they come in.     You will assist them with any problems that they have.   The average pay is $8 to $10 a hour.

Shift Leader: You will be responsible for watching over a few other employees during the other shifts.   You will perform the same duties as the team member, but you will also help with opening the gas station (if it isn’t a 24 hour location), as well as assigning tasks, and more.   You will report any problems to the owner, or main manager.

Maintenance / Janitorial: This position may require you to work more than one location.   You’re going to be in charge of ensuring that everything in the gas station is working at 100%.   You’re going to help repair lights, machines and more.   You will also assist other associates with cleaning duties, various paperwork and more.   The average wage is anywhere from $8 to $12 a hour.

Main Manager: This position is going to require that you run and operate the entire gas station.   You’re going to be in charge of opening, closing, as well as assigning the tasks to various employees.   If any employees call in, you may have to come in on duty as some gas stations are opened for 24 hours.   You’re going to find that you’re going to answer to the main district manager.   The wages start anywhere from $11 to $20 a hour.
