History of Six Flags

Six Flags, Inc. is the world’s largest regional theme park company and the second leading amusement park operator in the United States. It is based in Oklahoma City and also maintains a second corporate office in New York City. It operates 39 family-oriented theme parks in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. Twenty-four of the company’s parks are branded with the Six Flags name. Six Flags the company, however, secured that well-known brand only in 1998 when, then known as Premier Parks, Inc., it acquired Six Flags Theme Parks, Inc. The latter traced its beginnings in the 1961 opening of Six Flags Over Texas and Premier Parks was in 1971 and known until 1994 as Tierco Group, Inc.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Ride Operator: This person brings people a safe ride to the park. He ensures to deliver the thrills safely, courteously, and happily. He/she is entitled to receive an hourly rate of $6 to $8.

Food Service: This person ensures customer service in serving the needs of the guests- From stand-alone carts to restaurants, fast food areas and catering, he/ she must show teamwork, the key skill for serving thousands of Guests daily. He/she receives an hourly rate ranging $7 to $8.

Cashier: The cashier receives the payment of the customers for the products and services. He/she must be knowledgeable about prices and should ensure efficient customer service. He/she expects to receive an hourly rate of $7.

Operations Supervisor: The operations supervisor mans the personnel of the park who work in giving services to the guests. He/she ensures that everyone works for the customers’ satisfaction and in accordance to the company goals and procedures. He will receive an hourly rate of $7 to $13.

Park Service Crew: The highly visible Park Services Team Members are responsible for maintaining superior standards of cleanliness throughout the entire park.

Lifeguards: Team Members are trained by Ellis and Associates to be the top lifeguards in the country. Team Members work outdoors at the wave pool, slides, and our aquatic children’s playground.

Security Officers:  Security Officers in uniform, protect the park and the Guests.
