History of A&W Restaurants

A&W Restaurants, Inc. is a chain of fast food restaurants, well-known by its draft root beer and root beer floats. A&W was possibly the first triumphant food franchise company, starting franchises in 1921 in California. Now it has franchise locations all over the world, serving a typical fast food menu of hamburgers and french fries, plus hot dogs. A number of its outlets are drive-in restaurants with carhops. The company name was taken from the last name initials of partners Roy Allen and Frank Wright. The chain is presently owned by Yum Brands.

The company became famed in the United States for its chilly mugs, where the mug would be kept in the freezer prior to being filled with root beer and served to the customer.

Job Description / Average Wage

General Manager: As a General Manager you need   to pursue work ethics and stay to the company’s safety and health policies. He/she should be willing to learn new things and motivate other members of the team.Some of the job skills that are required include:

Assistant General Manager: The Assistant General Manager position will support the General Manager with all aspects of the restaurant operations. The Assistant General Manager must also show strong communication skills and superior leadership abilities. The average pay is from $29,000 to $43,000 a year.

Food Shift Manager: A Food Shift Manager supervises employees on the restaurant floor, overseeing food preparation, order fulfillment, customer service and all facets of daily work. He/She keeps path of food and paper supplies, replenishing them when needed. Before and after the shift, he helps workers clean the equipment. A shift manager must know how to prepare food and work the cash register to train new employees and pitch in when workers are late or sick. Shift managers must have good communication skills, patience and the ability to stand for long periods of time. Your average wage will be $8 to $14 an hour.

Delivery Driver: Delivery driver is going to deliver items through preparing, loading, unloading, operating, and cleaning a truck, developing sales, maintaining records. Some of the key duties and resposibilities are as follows:

• Clean and examine containers to be sure they are fit to be seen for delivery to customer.
• Communicate with the Driver Supervisor or Warehouse Manager on customer questions and/or issues, prepare driver notes as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Regular attendance and regularity required.
• Check precision and immovability of the load.
• Secure company assets.
• Maintain machine cleanliness appearance, and all right point of sales.
• Settle all accounts day by day.
• Have a valid driver’s license.

Your average wage will be from $7 to $16 an hour.

Cashier: The Cashier handle customers’ payments in retail stores, restaurants, theaters, and offices. Their exact duties depend on the business that employs them. Usually cashiers scan or type the price of items into a computer that calculates a total. They then collect payment for goods and services, make change, and hand out receipts. Cashiers may also issue cash refunds and credit slips to customers or cash checks for customers and employees. At the end of their shift, they must balance the amount of money they have taken in with the total sales recorded. They do this to make sure they have not made any mistakes. If the balance does not match up on a regular basis, a cashier can lose his or her job.The average wage for this job is $8— $9 a hour.
