California Pizza Kitchen Job Application

History of the California Pizza Kitchen

The California Pizza Kitchen was started by two attorneys Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax in 1985. The gentlemen live in the Beverly Hills area and wanted to start a special pizza restaurant that depicted the California foods created from Wolfgang Puck’s Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills. It was such a huge success that the owners could hardly believe how well the pizza industry could evolve.

In 1992 Pepsi Company paid each owner $17.5 million dollars for the business. They believed that they had paid too much for the business but pushed for a faster expansion. The restaurant chain now has 230 locations in 32 states and nine other countries. The company also features 26 California Pizza Kitchen ASAP kiosks designed to serve passengers at airports and shopping malls. The company also licensed its name to Kraft Foods to distribute a line of premium frozen pizzas.
