The company operates as a specialty retailer of footwear and accessories for young women in the United States. Bakers Footwear vends both casual and dress footwear. The casual footwear comprises sport shoes, sandals, athletic shoes, outdoor footwear, casual daywear, weekend casual, casual booties, and tall-shafted boots; and dress footwear consists of career footwear, tailored shoes, dress shoes, special occasion shoes, and dress booties. The company also vends accessories, including handbags, jewelry, sunglasses, ear clips and earrings, hosiery, and scarves. Since April 16, 2007, it operated 257 stores under the Bakers and Wild Pair names.

The company was established in 1924. It was previously recognized as Weiss-Kraemer, Inc. and subsequently altered its name to Weiss and Neuman Shoe Co. Further, the company altered its name to Bakers Footwear Group, Inc. in 2001. The company is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.

Job Description and Average Wage

Store Manager: The Store Manager oversees the daily operations of the store and maintains the best quality of customer service. He/she hires, educates and encourages the team members to surpass in each of their jobs and at the same time adhering to the set policies and standards. The position supervises stock level, security control as well as assesses reports and budget proposals.

The average wage is $34,000 to $58,000 a year.
