Big Lots Manager Salary

Big Lots stores have been selling closeout and overstock merchandise ever since they opened in 1967. Back then, it was known as Odd Lots and they first use the name Big Lots in 1985. Although there have been closures of several Big Lots store in 2005, they still operate 1,400 stores in 47 states.

Big Lots managers display high level of flexibility when they come in the store. The job requires multi tasking and one can easily lose focus. The manager is responsible in checking the items that they have in store and would often restock the items that fly off the shelves to meet demands. Also, they would have to assist customers who may have a hard time finding items they need.

The manager would also have to make sure that they have time to screen candidates and select the best person for the job. Proper training should be given to newly hired recruits and have the tenured staff take over training duties eventually. Reports should be sent to the management for assessment and this should be done daily.
