History of Bob Evans

Bob Evans Restaurants is known as Bob Evans Farms, Inc. and they are a food service, processing, and Retail Company based in Columbus, Ohio. The company is named after its founder Bob Evans (1918-2007). The company operates two family dining restaurants in the United States known as Bob Evans Restaurants and Mimi’s café.

They process and manufacture country sausage which has become very famous and is sold in many grocery stores. Bob Evans got the idea after he heard many of the truck drivers who stopped at his truck stop declare that he had the best sausage around. Bob slaughtered and packaged his own pork sausage. He/She did not have the capacity to manufacture large orders but he made an agreement with Tim Evans owner of Evans Packing Company. From that point on Bob Evans Farms, started up and went into being a large family restaurant that serves many people.

Job Description/Average Wage

Server: The servers are responsible for taking the customers orders presenting them to the cook and when they come out of the kitchen making sure that they are delivered in a timely manner. They must serve the drinks and salads before the meal comes out and a dessert afterwards if the customer so desires. The wage is based on the amount of tips that a server may receive. Servers at Bob Evans Restaurants usually receive a lot of tips. They are paid an hourly wage as well in accordance with the area that they are working.

Hostess: The hostess greets the customers, takes their names and makes sure that they are seated as soon as possible. Bob Evans Restaurants usually do not take reservations so there can be a waiting time. The hostess tries to keep customers occupied while waiting to be seated. Most hostesses’ starting wage is $8.00 an hour.

Cook: You’re going to be in charge of working in the back of the kitchen.   You’re going to help with prepping foods, opening the kitchen, as well as shutting it down.   You will also help with helping the waitresses with any orders that they may have.   You will ensure that all orders are being cooked to perfection.   The average wage is anywhere from $7 to $13 a hour.
