Chili’s Restaurant Job Application
History of Chili’s Grill & Bar
This restaurant chain was founded by Larry Lavine and now has over 1400 casual dining restaurants. Most of Chili’s Grill & Bars are located in the United States and Canada. Chili’s is owned by Brinker International, which also owns On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, Maggiano’s Little Italy, and Romano’s Macaroni Grill. Chili’s started out in a converted postal station on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas. They opened on March 13, 1975 with Lavine’s concept of creating an informal full-service dining restaurant with a menu featuring different types of hamburgers offered at affordable prices. The brand proved to be very successful and by the early 1980’s there were 22 more Chili’s locations in the region, all featuring similar Southwest décor. Lavine sold his company in 1983 to Norman E. Brinker, who was previously part of the Pillsbury restaurant group. Chili’s now has locations in all 50 states and 28 international locations.
