History of Cookies by Design

The company begins with a unique business idea that combines two popular gifts- flowers and cookies, into one deliciously delightful concept, the cookie bouquet. Customers continue to turn to Cookies by Design to help them deliver personal and creative expressions to others in a unique and fun way.

Gwen Willhite established the business in 1983when she conceptualized the cookie bouquet. This idea is quickly embraced by gift givers which then made Gwen’s budding enterprise grow. From the founder’s kitchen, the business is moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Then in 1986 when things really picked up, Gwen moved her business to Dallas, Texas.

After the Dallas business was established, Gwen turned her attention to start their own Cookie Bouquet franchise; so the first franchised Cookie Bouquet Location opened in 1987. To best describe the creative, unique and customized products sold, Cookie Bouquet locations changed their names to “Cookies by Design” in 2004. Presently, there are 200 Cookies by Design locations operating across the United States.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Customer Service:  Customer service representative is the position of people who will be interacting with customers to respond to their inquiries about products and services of the company. He/She will also be handling customer complaints and will be helping to find a resolution. He/She gathers information by phone or in person; receives orders for services to be installed, turned on, turned off, or changed. Customer service representative may explain how to use equipment and solve any equipment problems. The expected salary average is $8 per hour.

Baking:   Working in the back of the kitchen, you’ll be in charge of processing cookie orders according to the company recipe.   These cookies are going to be prepped and processed throughout the day, making sure that the front of the store is adequately stocked with cookies.   If any problems do persist, you’ll do your best to consult with the main manager of the store on duty.   The average wage for this position is going to start at $9+ per hour.
