Job Description / Average Wage

Hair Stylist: You will be responsible for helping the customer as they walk into the door.   Whether you made an appointment with them, or you have a walk in, you will cut, color, or wash their hair.   Each customer is going to be different, based on their needs.   In your down time, you will find that you will help clean up the salon, as well as help with the front desk and more.   The average wage is $8 to $14 a hour, plus tips.

Receptionist: Generally, at a place like this, you will cut hair, as well as help in the front.   You will answer phones, take appointments, as well as help those that come into the store.   You will also help clean, sweep, as well as stock any shampoo products in front.   You will also assist with cleaning aprons, and more.   The average wage is $7+ a hour.

Supervisor:   The supervisor stylist will be in charge of running all operations when the main store manager isn’t in.   Like the manager, most of the duties are going to be the same.   You’ll be in charge of assisting with opening the salon, assigning tasks as well as performing the duties of the stylist.   The average wage of the stylist will start at $9+ a hour.

Manager:   As the salon manager, you’re going to oversee all of the operations.   You’re going to be in charge of making sure that the employees show up on time, hiring them as well as making sure that the store remains clean.   Since most store managers are stylists themselves, you will also assist with cutting hair and more.   The average wage for a store manager here is anywhere from $12 to $15+ a hour.
