Job Description / Average Wage

ASE Tech: This job will require that you’re ASE certified.   You will do various auto repair jobs.   You will change tires, fix cars, assist with oil changes, and more.   You will also help clean the shop, as well as do miscellaneous jobs.   The average wage for this position is from $13 to $20 a hour.

Tire Sales / Sales Associate: You will work inside the shop, and help with tire sales.   You will assist customers with any questions that they have about tires.   You will recommend products, ring them up, as well as answer the phone.   You will also help with setting up appointments.   The average wage is $10 to $18 a hour.

General Tech: You will assist with   smaller jobs around the shop.   You will help bring cars into the shop, as well as help the techs in the garage.   You will do minor repairs, as well as assist around the inside as well with ringing up customers and more.   The average wage is $8 to $14 a hour.

Customer Service:   Working the front desk, you’re going to greet customers as they come in the door, set up appointments as well as answer any questions that they may have.   You’re going to also communicate with those that are in the back of the shop working on the cars.   In your downtime, you’ll assist with paperwork, answering phones as well as assisting the manager of the store.   The average wage for this position is $8 to $11 per hour.

Store Manager:   As a shop manager, you’re going to be in charge of running the whole shop.   You’ll be assigning tasks, hiring employees as well as making sure that the shop is ran according to company policy.   Most shop managers are going to be ASE certified and will be able to assist techs with the cars as well.     A store manager’s salary will start at $13+ a hour.
