Job Description/Wage Averages
Assistant General Manager: This position is responsible in assisting the general manager in directing the restaurant operations. He/She will be training the new employees so they will be able to perform their duties accordingly; oversee the restaurant operations and lead the workforce. The expected annual salary ranges $48K to $52K.
Sous Chef: This person should familiarize all the activities in the kitchen and be prepared to do them. The Sous Chef is also responsible for overseeing the kitchen staff; making sure that the restaurant is of top quality, and that staff are being mindful of the cost standards that come with the food; perform menu planning, inventory, and managing of supplies; maintaining the kitchen is up to safety standards, and that staff are obeying sanitation rules.
Dishwasher / Busser: Working in the back of the kitchen, you’re going to be in charge of cleaning up tables, washing dishes as well as making sure that the kitchen is kept clean. You’re going to also assist the wait staff with any jobs that they need help with. The average wage starts at $8 per hour.
Server: This position is responsible in the dining room area and so he must have a dining room awareness and must ensure overall guest satisfaction. He/She is to respond promptly to the guests’ needs as well. The expected hourly rate is between $10 to $19.
General Manager: The restaurant manager is responsible in managing, planning, and directing all restaurant operations; he is also responsible to hire and train key employees; and to ensure that all employees are working towards the attainment of the goals of the company.
