Krispy Kreme founder was Vernon Rudolph. Mr. Rudolph worked for his uncle Ishmael Armstrong who had purchased a recipe for yeast-raised donuts and also a little shop in Paducah, Kentucky. That is where Mr. Rudolph came up with the idea for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. These donuts are very delicious and found in stores like Wal-Mart and Target. Many grocery stores are glad to have Krispy Kreme doughnuts on their shelves. Krispy Kreme doughnuts were known throughout the 1960’s in the southeastern United States. Krispy Kreme doughnuts became well known in Ontario, Canada by 2001 leaving the United States to expand even farther.
The company sold out to Beatrice Foods of Chicago, Illinois but the main headquarters remained in Winston-Salem. Finally Beatrice Foods sold out their share to a group of franchisees in 1982. The now famous donuts are sold in the United States and in Canada.
Job Description/Average Wage
Retail worker: Krispy Kreme retail worker usually waits on customers giving them their donuts in a box or bag. They also may work in the kitchen helping to get the fresh donuts bagged in order to be put on the shelf. The average wage for a retail worker is $7 an hour.
Baker: Working in the back, you’re going to be in charge of helping with baking the donuts, as well as preparing other goods for the work day. You’re going help open, as well as close the kitchen down. You will also ensure that the kitchen remains clean. The average wage is anywhere from $7 to $9 a hour.
Cashier: The cashier is the one works the cash register charging the customer for their Krispy Kreme doughnuts and coffee’s. They bag up the amount the customer selected and then charge them for the products that they bought. The average wage for a cashier is $8 an hour.
Shift Supervisor: The shift supervisor takes care of the shift making sure that enough doughnuts are made, packed, and put out for the customer. The shift supervisor helps with customer relations and employee situations. The average wage for a shift supervisor is $10 an hour.
