In the year 1976 Johnson Kam and Eddie Flores, Jr., purchased the L&L Drive-Inn ® on Liliha Street in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was in 1988 when they decided to franchise and expand their operation. They were serving fresh plate lunches, in generous portions, and low prices across Hawaii with their very successful chain of L&L Drive-Inn ® restaurants. L&L Hawaiian Barbecue’s ® unique meal composition and signature brand of Asian and American fusion cuisine; this concept has spread paving way to close to 200 L&L restaurants in Hawaii, California, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, Texas, New York, American Samoa, New Zealand and Japan.
Job Description/Wage Averages
Server: This position has the responsibilities of requesting or taking orders from and serve food and beverages to guests; checking on guest satisfaction and handling the payment and complaints/concerns of customers. He/She must have the knowledge of service techniques, food and beverage product and practices of responsible alcohol service. The average wage can start at around $3 per hour plus tips.
Host/Hostess: This position takes charge in supervising the dining room area as well as the personnel so the restaurant will be able to provide fast and efficient service to guests; he also schedules dining reservations; greet guests, escorts them to tables, and provides menus; respond to complaints; ensure neatness and cleanliness; may also be involve in hiring, training and discharging dining room personnel. The average wage can start at around $8 per hour.
Assistant Manager: This position is helping the restaurant general manager – help in providing exceptional food quality and guest service; help in the training and development of their staff. He/She will concentrate on building sales, controlling costs, and learning all aspects of our business. The average wage can start at around $11 per hour.
Line Cook: The line cook has the responsibility to set up the work station, prep items for service, clean the station and may also do general duties like cleaning kitchen equipment, organize produce delivery, train a new cook and perform complete inventory. The average wage can start at around $8 per hour.
