History of Morgan Jewelers

Morgan Jewelers is a family owned company with strong and dedicated services like Jewel School, Jewelry Care and Repair and Warranty plans. Nate Morgan, the company owner started to work in a pawnshop who soon became a store manager. He/She saved his hard earned money and in 1914 he and his friend purchased and little store in Burley, Idaho and after a successful store closing sale, the proceeds was used to open a store in Pocatello, Idaho.

Morgan’s was the official inspector and calibrator of the railroad employees watches in Pocatello Idaho. This is where the legacy of Morgan Jewelers began. Railroad workers then should own accurate timepieces; what Morgan did was, he set up a unique payment arrangement whereby railroad employees could have the calibration expenses deducted from their paycheck. Therefore, workers could keep up on the maintenance of their timepieces regularly, even if they didn’t have the funds available at the time of service.

From then on, Morgan’s was able to get an authorization to sell jewelry items to employees and have the payments deducted directly from their payroll. Then, Nate moved to a larger location and expanded his sales method to include all customers. The sign on the store read, “Nate Morgan Jewelers, Yours Today, a Year to Pay.” This makes the store as one of the first stores in the west to offer merchandise at installment plan.

Morgan Jewellers has expanded into 18 stores. Most locations and our headquarter are in Utah, additional states include Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and The Gateway  in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

It has been over 90 years of Morgan Jewellers’ continued tradition of providing personal and professional jewelry service.

Job Description/Wage Ranges

Sales Associate: The person assigned in this position is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets. Specifically, his duties include, providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer; maintaining awareness of all promotions and advertisements; assisting in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and housekeeping; helping customers in locating merchandise; communicating customer requests to management; completing price changes within the department; participating in year-end inventory and cycle counts. The hourly salary is $8 to $9.
