The history of On the Border Restaurant began 1982at   Knox Street in Dallas, TX. Originally based on sizzling fajitas, frosty margaritas, happy hour and a booming patio, OTB has evolved and expanded over time to include a variety of dishes inspired by the cuisines of South Texas and Mexico. At present, there are more than 160 restaurants throughout the United States internationally. It also offers franchise for those who are interested.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Restaurant General Manager: This position ensures that the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably and everybody is working for the attainment of company goals. He/She must to plan, direct and must coordinate a variety of activities of the restaurants. The manager is responsible for the business performance of their restaurant, maintaining high standards of food, service, and health and safety. He/She has to combine strategic planning, shift pattern organization and day-to-day management activities. The expected annual salary ranges $39k to $69k.

Server: This position attends to the guests’ needs- serve the needs or orders of the guests; provides guests with a clean, comfortable environment for their dining experience; makes sure that every guest is thanked and invited to return. Average annual salary is $23k, plus tips.

Host/Hostess: This position is in charged in coordinating and supervising the activities of dining room personnel to provide fast and courteous service to guests; scheduling of dining reservations and arrangements; greeting and escorting the guests, providing menus; responding to complaints; inspecting dining room serving stations to ensure neatness and cleanliness; hiring, training and discharging dining room personnel. The hourly salary is $8.

Bartender: This person will provide beverages according to recipe in a friendly guest-first manner. He/She is to maintain a well-presented, well-stocked, and clean beverage station.   The average wage for this position can start at $8 per hour.

Dishwasher: This person is responsible in ensuring that all dishes, glasses, utensils and equipment are cleaned, sanitized and stored to maintain cleanliness.   The average wage for this position can start at $8 per hour.
