It was in the year 1968 when Floyd “Sonny” Tillman and his wife, Lucille, founded Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q in Gainesville, Florida. This was a casual restaurant offering the very best authentic southern Bar-B-Q. Sonny’s Bar-B-Q operates in nine states. Success is great. But after 40 years, it’s still about “Feel Good Bar-B-Q” that the restaurant is proud of.
Job Description/Wage Averages
Assistant Managers: The Assistant General Manager assists the General Manager in achieving excellent restaurant operations, developing and coaching team members, building sales and profit while maintaining high operating standards. He/She is also responsible for the success of the restaurant by following the company’s guidelines, policies and procedures. The annual salary ranges $33k to $37k.
Host/Hostess: This position is in charged in supervising the activities of dining room and in coordinating with the personnel to provide fast and courteous service to guests; scheduling and arranging of dining; greeting and escorting the guests, providing menus; responding to complaints; inspecting dining room serving stations to ensure neatness and cleanliness and everything about the dining room flow of operations. The average wage can start at $3 per hour, plus tips.
Server: This position deals with the guest for they serve the needs or orders of the guests; provides guests with a clean, comfortable environment for their dining experience. The average wage can start at $3 per hour, plus tips.
Bartender: This person will provide beverages according to recipe in a friendly guest-first manner. He/She is to maintain a well-presented, well-stocked, and clean beverage station. The average wage can start at $3 per hour, plus tips.
Dishwasher: This person is responsible in ensuring that all dishes, glasses, utensils and equipment are cleaned, sanitized and stored to maintain cleanliness. The average wage can start at $8 per hour.
Prep Cook: This person has the duties and responsibilities to prepare/cook food for guests; ensure that all equipment, utensils and working areas are maintained for cleanliness; coordinate prep amounts with managers, follow recipe instructions, use checklists and prep sheets and follow safe food handling guidelines. The average wage can start at $8 per hour.
