History of Sprouts

The Sprouts is in the market for nearly 70 years. It has been synonymous with fresh produce, great prices and old-fashioned customer service. Sprouts Farmers Market is the latest and most successful iteration of a business that began with very humble roots. Sprouts has grown tremendously since the opening of our first store in 2002. Through organic growth and the recently completed merger with Henry’s and Sun Harvest Farmers Markets, number of stores have nearly doubled to over 100 stores and even these tough economic times, Sprouts is adding stores and jobs.

Job Description/Wage Averages

Grocery Manager: The Grocery Manager ensures that the Grocery, Dairy, Frozen Foods, and Beer/Wine departments are well managed, resulting in a positive shopping experience for Sprouts’ customers.    The Grocery Manger is very involved with the department employees, and assists in hiring, coaching, and training employees, as well as conducting meetings and scheduling.   This position is essential in ensuring that products are handled properly, rotated to ensure freshness, and that date controls are performed.   Also responsible for ordering, vendor communications, compliance and sanitation, back room inventory and controls, and management of workplace and department safety, as well as reporting, financial control, and budget responsibilities.   The annual salary is $39k to $42k.

Deli Clerk: The Deli Clerk is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and ensuring that safe food handling practices are maintained and adhered to. He provides a high level of prompt and friendly customer service; maintains a positive work environment; prepares vegetables and meat for prepared meals; prepares sandwiches; prepares “fresh and easy meals” while maintaining strict adherence to Company recipes; properly cuts, wraps and scales deli items; operates slicer, wrapping and cooking equipment; assists in maintaining all equipment in safe working condition; assists with inventory; assists with unloading, stocking, facing, filling and rotating merchandise; strict adherence to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; observes temperatures within cooler and cases and reports failures to management. The hourly rate is $10 to $11.

Scan Coordinator: The Scan Coordinator is responsible for maintaining overall price integrity in their assigned Store. This position conducts daily, weekly, and monthly price changes, including changing shelf signs and tags, promotional signs, and bucket signs, and ensures compliance with all company and governmental compliance regulations. The annual salary ranges $21k to $30k.

Cashier: The Cashier is responsible for processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently while ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt and friendly service. Additionally, they are responsible for cash register operations and for safeguarding company assets. The hourly rate is $9 to $10.

Produce Manager: The Produce Manager is responsible for managing department inventory, in-stock position, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit. This position ensures all new department associates receive proper training and supervision and will ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and building of displays. The annual salary is   $43k to $51k.
